Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)/(DHI)/ FUSS/ etc techniques
This method involves extracting single follicular units from the back portion of the scalp (donor area) and transplanting them on to the bald area(recipient area). These follicles are extracted by using a punch . As this is a blind technique as it involves lot of wastage (upto 30%).

By this method, only 500-900 grafts can be transplanted per day. This is a costly affair, as the surgeon has to spend more time on a single patient with high precision and concentration and to transplant 5000 follicles, it takes 6-10 sessions. But in Follicular Unit transplantation, even 6000 follicular units can be transplanted in two sessions only.

The survival rate of grafts in this method is less compared to FUT, but this method doesn’t leave a scar over the donor area similar to FUT. Eventhough there may not be a scar,it can leave dot like scars (mottled appearance) in the areas from where the follicles are extracted (donor area).

Usually it is done at centers which have very few surgical assistants and moderate infrastructure.
